Workshop 301—Outdoor Lighting: $79
If you’re ready to make your outdoor photos look as good as your studio shots, this class is for you!
Some photographers that have not yet mastered studio lighting think the way around learning studio lights is to just go outside. Not so fast – Mother Nature can be very unforgiving, and quite frankly is not very good at lighting!! In my experience, a “natural light” photographer is usually just someone that doesn’t know how to use lights. I say “you get out what you put in.” Photography is painting with light. Do you really think you can get the same results outdoors if you aren’t using fill flash, reflectors, mirrors, etc? What do you do if the sun isn’t in the right place at the right time??
Bottom Line: Do you Control the Light, or Does the Light Control You? I’ll show you how to control it to shoot at any time!
My philosophy for outdoor photography is the same as in the studio. I want clean, crisp photos with nice separation and controlled highlights and shadows. My clients deserve to look their best!
Let me show you the techniques I’ve developed over the past 25+ years utilizing fill flash, reflectors, scrims, silks, mirrors, and more. Learn the ratios you need to use to get that perfect balance of natural light and fill light. Learn how to use your light meter! Stop guessing!
We will start with simple flash on camera, and add more lights and gear as we go.
Hardware: Cameras and lenses by Nikon, lighting by Elinchrom, Speedotron, Alien Bees, Mole Richardson, Nikon and more… Support gear by Matthews, Bogen, Avenger, and others.
Software: In all my classes you get to see my workflow and watch as images are imported, projected, and refined. I use the latest version of Photoshop, Light Room, The Bridge, Camera Raw and others. I’ll compare JPEG to RAW and compare their features.
Bring your camera, manual, charged batteries, extra memory cards, pen/paper and thinking cap.
I guarantee you’ll learn a lot and be ready to deliver better images to your clients!
